Pubs and Beers in San Jose

Trials pub
http://www.trialspub.com/index.html

Beers in "Trial Pub":

“If you seek a well poured pint in a supremely comfortable atmosphere, Trials Pub (265 N Ist St), north of San Pedro Square, has many excellent ales on tap (try a Fat Lip), all served in a warm, friendly room with no TVs. There's good pub food too.”
Lonely Planet Guide to California
2003 Edition
Trials Pub is a rarity. It is an authentic Pub in a franchised world, a space free of televisions and "wazzup" beers. Trials Pub is a home-away-from-home for people from around the world and around the corner.
Situated in an historic landmark — the building dates back to 1894 — Trials is just the latest occupant in one of the most interesting Victorian buildings in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Tied House

Beers in Tied House:

ALPINE GOLD:
This is a Northern American (Canadian Style) blonde or golden ale. Clean in both hop aroma and finish. It is as close to a lager as an ale gets.
CASCADE AMBER:
This is a California style Pale/Amber. The Amber refers to the beautiful dark yellow and orange color. Not quite as hoppy as other Ambers, it is well balanced and leaves the palate full with a rich creamy feel. Our all-time best seller.
IRONWOOD DARK:
This is an English style Brown Ale. It gives you a full mouth feel, yet leaves your palate with a clean finish. The dark roasted malts are mild tasting and never overpowering. This is not a heavy dark beer. Our staff's favorite.
NEW WORLD WHEAT:
This is an American style Wheat beer - 50% Barley and 50% Wheat malt and using our special ale strain. Not clover or spicy like German varieties, but light, refreshing and clean with a typical low hopping.

Gordon Biersch

Beers in Gordon Biersch:

Dunkles, meaning "dark" in German, is a full-bodied, malty beer. It is our only lager beer served unfiltered, the way all beer was traditionally made years ago. Despite its dark color and rich caramel aroma, Dunkles is light in texture and smooth to drink.

Golden Export is a smooth, refreshing lager, lightly hopped with a dry finish. Export-style premium beer was first brewed in Dortmund, Germany in the 1870s and quickly became a favorite for export to neighboring regions. We hope you enjoy our freshly brewed original recipe Export-style lager.

Blonde Bock is a medium hopped beer with a rich, malty flavor. Made popular in the early 1600s, bock beers were originally brewed by monks to minimize hunger pangs during fasting periods. Most Bock beers are dark in color. Our Gordon Biersch Blonde Bock is golden with a rich creamy head. (7% alcohol content)

Our most popular beer, Märzen is a smooth, mildly sweet, auburn colored lager. This beer originates from Bavaria where it was brewed in March ("Märzen" in German) and stored in caves to be enjoyed during warmer weather. At the end of September, any remaining kegs of Märzen were consumed during the two week celebration which became known as Oktoberfest. (5.7% alcohol content)

Pilsner is a crisp, golden, highly hopped lager. This beer was first brewed in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia in 1842 using a sample of special yeast smuggled from Germany by a Czech monk. Until this time all beers were dark and cloudy. The new Czech Pilsner was the first beer to be brewed clear and golden. (5.3% alcohol content)
