SOCAR announces tender for oil pipes

SOCAR has announced a three-lot tender for purchase of pipes for oil industry, as it intends to buy over 3,000 tons of protective pipes with external diameter of 140mm to 508mm, 3,360 tons of pumping compressor pipes with external diameter of 48.3mm to 114.3mm and 831 tons of drilling pipes with external diameter of 73mm to 140mm.

The tender will prefer bids for better price, delivery time and payment that are to be submitted before 15 October. The bidders and their authorized representatives can take part in the unsealing of the bids.

Ukraine eyes tanker for Caspian Shipping

Ukrainian shipbuilding enterprises can participate in a tender for purchase of two tankers for the Caspian Shipping Company, the Ukrainian ambassador in Baku Boris Alexenko has told a news conference.

The Ukrainian companies have already been informed of the tender terms. The diplomat said his country's enterprises with previous reconstruction experience in shipbuilding are keen on doing business in Azerbaijan.

Recalling the agreement signed between Azerbaijan and the Ukraine in 1995 on purchase of seven tankers for Caspian Shipping, the Ukrainian ambassador said no sufficient work had been done since that time, stressing that everything now depends on the tender terms.

Tender winner known

The Ministry of Economic Development has announced Etalon Ltd. as the winner of an investment tender for the sale of shares in Baku Universal Mechanical Engineering open joint stock company. The tender was held by the Ministry's Department for Privatization of State Property as part of the second privatization program and tender regulations.

Elton is to transfer 700mln manat to the state budget and 45mln to the JSC for implementation of initial investment activities, as well as forward 15,000 privatization vouchers to the Department within 30 days from the signing of the sales and purchase agreement.

The company will invest 1.5bn manat in a year and a half in three stages to repair and restore buildings and installations, diversify production, apply new technologies, and purchase equipment.

The winner is also committed to better the social conditions of the staff and realize social programs like patronizing martyr families.

Gas compressor station ready

The construction of a gas compressor station has been over at the Simal power plant on an agreement between the Azeri government and the scientific production unit in Sumi, the Ukraine. The station has been put into commissioning two months ahead of schedule as part of the reconstruction project of the plant, according to Ukrainian ambassador to Azerbaijan Boris Alexenko.

The gas station was officially inaugurated on 24 August, the Ukraine's independence day. The reconstruction project implemented by Japan's Mitsui with loans from the Japanese Eximbank also envisions laying a 96km gas pipeline from Qaradag to the Simal power station. The project is underway from December 2000 till November 2002.
