Hot weather still to survive
Hot weather is expected to survive in Baku and on Abseron Peninsula with no showers on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
A south wind will blow at 8-13 meters a second Wednesday and will turn Thursday into a north wind blowing at 16-18 meters a second. Temperature in Baku is expected to be 35-38 degrees by the day and 25-30 degrees at night. Temperature of the water on Abseron beaches will be 27-29 degrees.
Armenia’s most fuel comes from Azerbaijan
One of the leaders of the opposition-minded Armenian National Movement has made a statement on ‘shadow economic cooperation’ between some state bodies of Azerbaijan and Armenia, saying ‘some 70 percent of Armenia’s gasoline needs comes from Azerbaijan’.
But, he noted that this criminal business was beneficial for netiher Azerbaijan, nor Armenia.
He was speaking to an international conference “South Caucasus: conflicts and regional security concerns” organized by the Armenian Center for Legal and Political Researches with assistance from the German Fridrich Ebert Foundation in Armenia last week.
Iran’s security chief due
Iranian Security Minister Ali Yunisi is expected to visit Baku on July 23-25. The Iranian embassy in Baku has confirmed the visit, declining to specify its purposes.
This will be Mr. Yunisi’s second visit in two years.
Seven more drown at beaches
Seven people drowned at private beaches on Abseron Peninsula after swimming under unfavorable weather conditions from 18 July till 21, according to the State Water Rescue Service. In total, 14 people have drowned since the beginning of the year's beach season, while some 60 people have been saved from touching the seabed.
Earlier, a 20 year-old student drowned on 15 July near Turkan village beyond the beach zone, while the other, a 22 year-old young male, on 17 July, as he was swimming on Mardakan beach in bad weather conditions.
There are 20 state-run and 60 private beaches on Abseron Peninsula.
