Azerbaijan's airspace access program prepared
The Azerbaijan Section of the International Academy of Sciences (IAS) approved the "Azerbaijan: view from space" program presented by the President of the international scientific and technical company Intergeo-Tethys Elchin Khalilov in a meeting Saturday.
The program aims to unite all national entities concerned and take photos with privileged access through the US Space Imaging Airspace Company, which services the NASA, said Mr. Khalilov, responsible secretary of the program.
He underscored there is a strong airspace school in Azerbaijan. "Our National Airspace Agency, apart from state-run scientific and research institutes, works with NGOs", he added.
Intergeo-Tethys has been closely cooperating with airspace agencies in the US, Canada and India since 1996. As a result, the company gets space photos, which are further used in agriculture, industry, telecommunications, to lay pipelines, etc.*
