Swedish Red Cross representatives to visit Baku
The representatives from the Swedish Red Cross Society (SRC), Program Coordinator Linda Nordin and Health Advisor Lena Tynnemark are expected to visit Azerbaijan on April 1-8.
The SRC has been one of the main donors for the programs implemented by the International Federation of Red Cross and the Red Crescent and the Azerbaijan Red Cross Society (AzRC) for the last three years. The major goal of the SRC representatives' visit to Azerbaijan is to get first-hand information on the progress of the IFRC/AzRC activities in Azerbaijan implemented within the Swedish Government/ Swedish Red Cross funded programs.
The SRC representatives will visit the "Southern camps" ( seven IDP camps in Sabirabad, Saatli and Bilasuvar provinces), where in cooperation with the AzRC the Federation has been implementing a Community Development Program targeting some 32,000 IDPs settled in the camps. The visitors also intend to familiarize with health activities both in the camps and throughout the country through branches and regional centers of the AzRC.
The visitors will also visit two villages in Fuzuli province, including newly rehabilitated Shukurbayli village, as well as the village of Alkhanli, where the Federation has been currently implementing a Rehabilitation and Repatriation project to facilitate return of some 140 IDP families from the Southern Camps to their homes of origin.
It is expected that the visit of the Swedish journalists will be followed by production of a documentary on the IDP's life in Azerbaijan, the Federation reported Thursday.*
