MPs approve free fares for police
MPs approved the amendments to the fourth item of the draft law "On police" concerning free fares for police in public transport, excluding taxis and long-distance vehicles, in its Friday's session. The amendments followed the President's recommendation.
Some MPs suggested that free fares be granted to employees of the Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry for National Security, veterans of World War II and Garabagh War, as well as journalists.
However, other parliamentarians and the speaker disapproved the proposal, while the vice-chairman of the permanent commission on state building and legal policy Ali Husseinov said the amendments was not the revival of social privileges, but service rights of policemen.*
