Karvan-D to organize Mecca pilgrimage

Director of the Center for Religious Researches Elchin Asadov told a news conference Wednesday that Karvan-D travel firm founded by the Center would organize pilgrimage to Mecca and other sanctities of Islam without the involvement of the Caucasus Clerical Board. The pilgrimage will cost cheaper, as it will take $900 to go to Mecca by bus to $1280 set by the Board, he said. Travelling by plane will cost $1200 to $1950 the Board charges.

Until recently there hasn’t been any other option rather than the Clerical Board to make pilgrimage to Mecca. However, a group of Azeri pilgrims were not allowed to Saudi Arabia last year, as their names were not on the list submitted by the Board.*
