U.S. Amb. to open new school in Surakhani district

18-room school #104 to serve approximately 750 children will open in Surakhani district of Baku on Friday. The school’s construction was funded by the U.S. government, and coordinated through the U.S. embassy's Office of Defense Cooperation, in partnership with the non-profit organization World Hope.

The opening ceremony will be conducted by Reno Harnish, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijani government officials.

The U.S. embassy in Baku told AssA-Irada that the project had also provided desks, chalkboards and other equipment for the school. The school is the second of three schools funded through the United States European Command Humanitarian Assistance program.*
